The Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) and MEGT have formalised a new partnership aimed at strengthening apprenticeship pathways and supporting the future workforce of Australia’s recreational boating industry.
The Service Level Agreement establishes MEGT as a preferred Australian Apprenticeship Support Services provider for BIAV and its Boating Careers initiative, ensuring marine employers and apprentices have access to expert support throughout the apprenticeship journey.
While the agreement provides a framework for apprenticeship sign-ups and ongoing support, both organisations have committed to working together on a range of broader workforce development initiatives designed to attract, support and retain the next generation of marine professionals.
The partnership will include collaboration across:
- Boating Careers Immersion Days and regional employer engagement activities.
- Employer webinars focused on apprentice attraction, retention and best practice.
- Participation in key industry events
- Sharing apprenticeship data and workforce insights to help measure industry outcomes.
- Joint marketing and promotional initiatives to raise awareness of careers in the boating industry.

MEGT is one of Australia’s largest Australian Apprenticeship Support Services providers, delivering support to employers and apprentices across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. Through the agreement, BIAV members will have access to guidance on apprenticeship sign-ups, training contracts, incentive eligibility, mentoring support and ongoing progress throughout the apprenticeship.
The partnership aligns with BIAV’s broader workforce development strategy, which focuses on increasing awareness of marine careers, supporting employers to attract skilled workers, and creating stronger pathways from school into apprenticeships and long-term careers.
Together, BIAV and MEGT are committed to making it easier for employers to engage apprentices and for young people to discover rewarding careers in Victoria’s boating industry.
